PREFACE

This is Part 2, Field Investigations of a three-volume
final report on the endangered Colorado River fishes. Part 1
is a Summary Report and Part 3 is a report on Contracted
Studies. This three-volume report was prepared primarily
for the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) in accordance
with Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) No. 9-06-40-L-1016
between the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and Reclamation.
Some additional funding for various parts of this total work
was provided by FWS and the Bureau of Land Management.
Assistance in editing and preparation of the manuscripts
for presentation in this document was provided by the staff of
Reclamation's Upper Colorado Regional Office, Salt Lake City,
Utah.
For details of the total scope of study including objec-
tives and areas of investigation see Part 1, Summary Report.
Opinions and conclusions expressed in the individual
studies presented in this document represent the views of the
