The Duchesne and White rivers enter the Green River within
this reach.
Reach 4-This 19-mile reach begins downstream of the town of Green River and extends
downstream to Ruby Ranch. Gradient is moderate (3 ft/mi) with considerable cobble and rubble
substrate. The San Rafael River enters the Green River at the lower end of Reach 4.
Reach S-The lowermost sampling reach in the Green River begins about 6 miles above Mineral
Bottom at Hell Roaring Canyon and extends 16 miles downstream to Fort Bottom. The reach is low
gradient (1 ft/mi) with mainly sand and silt substrates. Cobble bars occur at the mouths of side
canyons. Slow runs, shorelines, and occasional riffles are the dominant habitats in this reach. No
significant tributaries enter the river within this reach.
27
