Construct <br />five miles of fence and four structures <br />to benefit the migration of bull trout <br />to spawning sites in the Rock Creek <br />basin. NFWF: $25,000; outside funds: <br />$26,160. <br /> <br />Lewis River Watershed <br />Restoration- II <br />Fish First, WA <br />Improve and increase fish population <br />and habitat in Washington's Cedar <br />Creek as part of overall restoration <br />effort on the North Fork of the Lewis <br />River. Work will benefit chinook and <br />chum salmon, and steelhead and sea- <br />run cutthroat trout. NFWF: $40,000; <br />outside funds: $80,000. <br /> <br />Johnson Creek Riparian <br />Enhancement <br />City oJ La~eside/Ten Mile La~es' Basin <br />Partnership, OR <br />Restore habitat for coho salmon and <br />steel head and cutthroat trout by plant- <br />ing 10 acres of riparian forest with <br />5,400 western red cedar. Project area <br />will be maintained and monitored by <br />volunteers until a self-sustaining <br />riparian forest exists. NFWF: $3,120; <br />outside funds: $6,497. <br /> <br />Lower Rio Blanco Habitat <br />Restoration <br />San Juan Water Conservancy District, CO <br />Construct rearing ponds and spawn- <br />ing channels and enhance wetlands <br />adjacent to the Rio Blanco, in <br />Archuleta County, Colorado. Work <br />will benefit mottled sculpin, bluehead <br />sucker, and speckled dace. NFWF: <br />$30,000; outside funds: $67,000. <br /> <br />Miller Creek Restoration <br />Cascadia Quest, WA <br />Increase trout and salmon habitat by <br />replacing eight weirs and restoring <br />native vegetation along streambanks. <br />Project will demonstrate the potential <br />benefit of Sea-Tac Airport mitigation <br />funds on coho salmon and steelhead <br />and coastal cutthroat trout popula- <br />tions. NFWF: $11,000; outside funds: <br />$18,030. <br /> <br />Kidd Lake Restoration <br />USDA Forest Service, Kisatchie <br />National Forest, TX <br />Remove the silt that has filled in one- <br />third of Kidd Lake, killed cypress <br />trees, and degraded a unique native <br />ecosystem. Work will include silt <br />removal and shoreline stabilization to <br />benefit stargazing daters, starhead top- <br />minnows, and various mussel species. <br />NFWF: $5,900; outside funds: $9,800. <br /> <br />Lower Rogue/South Coast <br />Ecosystem <br />Curry County Soil and Water <br />Conservation District, OR <br />Correct road-related erosion problems <br />and restore in-channel habitat, water <br />quality, and riparian health to benefit <br />coho and chinook salmon, cutthroat <br />and steelhead trout, red-legged frogs, <br />and their ecosystem in coastal south- <br />western Oregon. NFWF: $60,000; out- <br />side funds: $120,000. <br /> <br />Native Frog Conservation and <br />Management <br />Arizona Game and Fish Department, AZ <br />Develop and implement stabilization <br />and recovery efforts for Chiricahua <br />leopard frogs to preclude the need for <br />federal listing. The results will be <br />applied to conservation and manage- <br />ment of native frogs in Arizona. <br />NFWF: $12,500; outside funds: $25,370. <br /> <br />Klakas Lake Sockeye Recovery <br />USDA Forest Service, Tongass National <br />Forest, AK <br />Improve passage for sockeye salmon <br />into KJakas Lake. Project will increase <br />sockeye survival and thus assist in <br />rebuilding this historical large salmon <br />run. NFWF: $15,500; outside funds: <br />$4,500. <br /> <br />Mary's River-VI <br />Bureau oJ Land Management, El~o <br />District, NV <br />Replace culverts that cross the Mary's <br />River and form a barrier to Lahontan <br />cutthroat trout upstream movement <br />on recently acquired land. Activities <br />also include riparian fence repair and <br />in-stream habitat restoration. NFWF: <br />$64,500; outside funds: $313,500. <br /> <br />Pavlof Lake Sockeye Salmon <br />Restoration <br />USDA Forest Service, Tongass National <br />Forest, AK <br />Develop management recommenda- <br />tions for restoration of sockeye <br />salmon populations in Alaska's Pavlof <br />Lake. Project will improve carrying <br />capability within the lake.
