The flows on these days were 383 and 358 cfs, respectively. Six transects were
surveyed along this habitat cluster. One transect was placed across the fast rapid at the bottom
(control), two across the shallow and deep runs in the middle, and two transects across the fast
riffle at the top of the cluster. Habitat type and substrate and width, depth and water velocity
measurements were taken along each transect. The length of the cluster was 821.2 ft, mean width
154.0 ft (54.5~257.1 ft.) and mean depths ranged from 1.0-3.94 ft. The primary habitat types found
in the cluster at 383 cfs were shallow runs (51 %) and deep runs (27%), followed by fast riffles
(12%) and slow shallow pools (10%). There were no Class I or Class II pools. The primary habitat
available to Colorado squawfish at all simulated flows (1-500 cfs) were deep run habitats.

Strata 3

Cluster] (rm 45.5)

This cluster was sampled 22 October 1996 (Appendix 2, Table 2) near Disappointment Draw
on the Yampa River. The flovv on this day was 433 cfs. Six transects were surveyed along this
habitat cluster. One transect was placed across the fast riffle at the bottom (control), two across the

21
