It is planned to transfer the
project facilities to an operation and maintenance status by Jan-
uary 1, 1961.

5. WYOMING

a. Lyman Project

The Lyman Project is located in Uinta County in southwestern
Wyoming near the town of Lyman. The project will deliver supple-
mental water to 36,000 acres of presently irrigated lands. Two dams
__ the Meeks Cabin and China Meadows - will be built by the
Bureau of Reclamation and will comprise the principal features of
the project.

Construction Activities

Major construction work was started on the Lyman Project in
May 1966 with the award of a $5.8 million contract for construction
of Meeks Cabin Dam on the Blacks Fork. The contractor improved
about 15 miles of access road to the damsite, prepared a large
portion of the foundation for the dam, and began placing some
earthfill in July. By mid-September he had started placement of the
impervious zone 1 material, and by the end of September he had
150,000 cubic yards in place. The total yardage in the completed
dam will approximate 31/2 million cubic yards. Overall percentage
completion by the end of September was 13 percent. When com-
pleted, Meeks Cabin Dam will be 3,100 feet long at the crest with
a height of 174 feet above streambed.

b. Seedskadee Project

The Seedskadee Project will provide for the irrigation of 58,775
acres of dry arable land along both sides of the Green River in an
area extending from 14 to 50 miles northwest of Green River, Wyo-
ming. It will also provide water for future municipal and industrial
needs.

Fontenelle Dam and Reservoir on Green River will be used
both for storage (to a total capacity of 345,000 acre-feet) and as
a means of diverting water from the river. A 10,OOO-kilowatt power-
plant is under construction at the toe of the dam. Development of
a wildlife refuge downstream from Fontenelle Dam will be an adjunct
to the project to be constructed under Section 8 of the Colorado
River Storage Project Act.

1
t
i
:
~
I
!
,

on
C Q)
"" 1:
"- 0
~ -c
S
t; ~
0
~ '+-
~ >-
~ -0
0
a ~
>-
-;:
0
Q)
c

Q)
0>
o
on
.~
-=

o
a.
e
u
Q)
-C
~

o
'+-

o
'+-
o

'+-
o
-0
c
.E
V>

>-
>
o
Q)
-c

<(

0>
c
E
o
>-
s
I
E
~
o
LL.

c
Q)
E
a.
o
Q)
>
Q)
o
Q)
Q)
-0
o
-'<
V>
-0
Q)
Q)
<I)
