In some instances water diversion can have a major <br /> <br />impact during low flow periods, but dams affect primarily the moderate <br />and high flow events. This range of medium to high flows is especially <br />important to the morphology of the river since these flows usually carry <br />the majority of sediment on an annual basis (Wolman and Miller, ]960; <br /> <br />Andrews, 1980), and are an important form of disturbance to riparian <br />
