5.2 FISH COLLECTIONS BY GEAR TYPE WITH CPE STATISTICS

A summary of sampling effon by gear type is presented in Table 3. Summaries of fish species collected by life
stage and associated CPE for each gear type are presented in Tables 4 - 6. All CPE statistics reponed in this
section were computed using the pooled CPE method.

5.2.1 Electrofishinl!

Catch rate information for electro fishing was pooled for the two trips because species composition and catch
rates were similar. The highest catch rates with electrofishing ge3r were for carp (478.3 fish/l0 hr) and channel
catfish (385.2). Pooled CPE for Colorado squawfish was 7.3 fish/lO hr. Catch rates for large predatory fish,
striped bass and walleye, were 54.0 and 27.6 fish/lO hr respectively.

Numerous age-O threadfin shad were noted during post-runoff electrofishing. Due to the large number and
their small size, no attempt was made to capture these fish.
