<br />I ObseIVed that the young humpback chub used the deep pockets around boulders as cover, staying <br />close to the bonom during daylight and to escape my presence. However, I saw many young humpback chub <br />in the midwater portion of the pocketwaters after SUDSeL It appears that these young fish are negatively <br />phototaxic and rest in the deep pocket waters around large boulders during the day. During crepuscular <br />periods and probably at night, these fish suspend themselves in slow currents flowing through these <br />pocketwaters, perhaps to feed. Nearly all of the YOY humpback chub I obseIVed were along the shoreline; <br />only a few were seen in the mid channel traverine pools of the LCR <br /> <br />2 <br />
