PRRIP - ED OFFICE DRAFT 6 10/30/2008
PLATTE RIVER RECOVERY IlVIPLEMENTATION PROGRAM
Geomorpholog,y/In-Channel Vegetation Monitoring RFP Interview Questions
At the beginning of your interview for this RFP on November 21St, 2008 you will have 20
minutes to highlight the key aspects of your proposal as it pertains to both protocol refinement
and protocol implementation and also address the set of questions below. Please be sure to
address the following questions/issues during your interview and provide feedback related to
how this information may change your approach and/or budget:
1. Please provide a cost estimate for Year 1 implementation of this monitoring protocol and
include a cost breakdown for such items as field hours, number of personnel, equipment, data
processing, and other associated costs. In addition, please summarize costs by individual
monitoring tasks (cross section surveys, bedload sampling, vegetation surveys, etc.) and be
clear about what tasks are included under implementation of the existing protocol and what
tasks are included under implementation of your suggested protocol revisions, if any.
2. Implementation of this protocol will require extensive field work on the Platte River in
central Nebraska each monitoring season. Please describe your approach to handling this
field work, including a discussion of any local presence your team has or will maintain in
Nebraska to handle field requirements or unforeseen circumstances.
3. Describe any previous working relationships you have had with all members of your
proposal team and how you plan to work in tandem with different team members.
4. T'he geomorphology/in-channel vegetation monitoring protocol will be sent to an external
Peer Review Panel after any changes are discussed with and approved by the Program's ED
Office, Technical Advisory Committee, and Governance Committee. Please discuss how
your team is prepared to address any protocol revisions that may arise as a result of the
Program's external peer review process.
5. This RFP describes a scope of work encompassing potential revisions to and implementation
of a monitoring protocol. The scope of work includes suggesting revisions to the protocol,
field data collection, basic data reduction and analysis (annual summary, trends, etc.), and
annual reporting, but does not include geomorphic assessments, extensive data analysis, or
research. Please address your understanding of this scope of work.
6. Please describe your proposal team's previous experience with implementing similar riverine
monitoring efforts, with particular emphasis on the vegetation experience on your team as it
relates to riparian vegetation monitoring/surveying/sampling. Also, please describe any
changes to your implementation approach for this portion of the protocol if it is revised
through the peer review process to include collecting elevation data on vegetation at specific
cross sections to support studies related to shear force.
Page i of 1
