The attendees identified themselves for the group.
Beorn Courtney started the meeting by opening the floor for discussion of program activities that may affect
water quality in the Platte River. Chad Smith provided a general overview of anticipated Program activities:
• Sediment augmentation (to be determined - 185,000 to 210,000 tons per year around Overton),
• Flow augmentation (for spring pulse flows - 5,000 to 8,000 CFS at Grand Island for 3 days - and
other seasonal flow targets),
• Channel reconfiguration around Program land (widening, bank cutting, leveling islands, etc.), and
• Program land management (chemical and mechanical removal of invasive vegetation).
Don Anderson added that the Program also provides ESA coverage for other projects in Colorado, Wyoming,
and Nebraska.
Dan Bigbee provided an overview of the 8/22/08 Technical Memo. The group did not have any concerns
about the monitoring locations, periods, or water quality parameters. The group discussed an option to remove
the Cottonwood Ranch site altogether if it is deternuned that money is better spent on more analytical
analyses. The group concurred that the objective of the water quality monitoring protocol should be to provide
Technical Memorandum Meeting Minutes Page 1 of 2
