The Colorado River Compact <br />A...Principal provisions <br />Article 11, <br />As usecl in this co:npact-- <br />(a) 1'ne tei-m "Colorado River System" mears thaC portion <br />of the Colorado River and its tributaries within the United <br />States of America. (b) The term "Colozado Rivcr Basin" means all of the <br />drainage area of the Colorado River System and all othe= Cer- <br />ritory within the United States of America to which the waters <br />of the Colorado River Svstem shalx be beneficislly applied. <br />, <br />(c) The term "States of the Uoper Division" neans the <br />States of Colorado, Few Hiexico, Utah, and Wyoming. <br />(d) The term "States of the Lower Division" means._ the. __ _'_ - <br />Stetes of Arizona, California, and Nevada. <br />(e) The tern "Lee Ferry" means a point in the main <br />stream of the Colorado River one mile below the mauth of the <br />Paria River. <br />(f) The te.rm "ilpper. Basin" means tt:ose parts of the <br />States of Arizona, Golorado, New I-'.exico, Utah, and Wyoming <br />within and froa which waters naturally dr.ai.n into tiie Colorado <br />River System above Lee Ferry, and Also a11 parts of satd States <br />located without the drainage ar.ea of the Colorado River System <br />which are now or shrill h.ereafter be beneficially served by <br />waters diverted from tlie System above Lee Ferry. <br />(g) The term "I.ower Basin" meeans those parts of the <br />States of Arizona, Calizornia, Kevada, New Mexico, and Utah <br />within and from which waters naturally drain into Che Colorado <br />River System be:.ow Lee Ferry, and also all parts of said States <br />locared withaut tize drair,age area r,E the Colorado River System <br />whi.ch are ncw or shall hereafter te heneficial'ty served by <br />waters diverted from the System beiaw Lee Ferry.
