Colorado's Plan For Futuie Depletions
Documentation as Required by Cooperative Agreement,
Milestones W6-1, W7-1, W8-1, and Tab 3B(I)E
4.5 Monthly Municipal RF and CU Factors
January 12, 1998
Page 7
The monthly municipal return flow and consumptive use factors included in the Calculations
sheet were derived using the same methodology and data as described in Section 4.2 above. In
this case, each month's consumptive use was subtracted from each month's treated water
delivery to obtain the monthly return flow factor. Consumptive use factors are simply 1 minus
the return flow factor.
4.6 Supply-Specific Use Patterns
The assumed supply-specific use patterns are presented in the table below and are discussed in
the following sections.
Supply-Specific Use Patterns Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
New Transbasin Imports - Use 6% 6% * 5% 6% 8% 11% 13% 15% 12% 8% 6% 5%
Pattern
Nontributary GW - Use Pattern 3% 3°l0 4% 7% 12% 13% 16°l0 15% 11% 8% 5% 4%
In-basin Agricultural
Conversion - Use Pattern
Conservation - Use Pattern
Water Reuse - Use Pattern
Native South Platte Storage -
Diversion Pattern
Native South Platte Storage -
Use Pattern
2% 2% 2% 5% 16% 16°l0 16% 16% 16°l0 5% 2% 2%
5% 4% 5% 7% 10% 13% 15% 13% 1.1% 7% 5% 5%
2% 2% 2% 5% 15% 10% 23% 22% 10% 5% 2% 2%
0% 0% 0% 5% 40%-50% 50/o 0% 0% 0% 0% .0%
9% 8% 8% 6% 4% 0% 4% 15% 17% 11% 9% 9%
4.6.1 Transbasin Imports - Use Pattern
The use pattern for transbasin imports is based on a compilation of transbasin use patterns for
Denver Water, Aurora, and municipal users of the Colorado-Big Thompson and Windy Gap
projects. These users represent the vast majority of municipal transbasin water use in the
South Platte basin.
Estimates of Denver Water's average transbasin use pattern were obtained from Denver's most
recent modeling studies, done as part of its Integrated Resource Plan, depicting the operation of
its water supply system at a future demand level of 390,000 AF/year. Specifically, average
