Colorado's Plan For Future Depletions January 12, 1998
Documentation as Required by Cooperative Agreement, Page 12
Millestones W6-1, W7-1, W8-1, and Tab 3B(I)E
water reuse use pattern for that month x
monthly municipal consumptive use factor for that month x-1.0
When new municipal water demand is met by water reuse, it is usually accomplished via
exchanges and plans of augmentation. Under these approaches, only the depletions associated
with the new demands must be offset with reusable exchange/augmentation supplies.
Therefore, the monthly municipal consumptive use factor is the appropriate measure for
quantifying the depletive effects of water reuse.
5.2.6 Native South Platte Flow Development
For each region, the accretions/depletions for each month from South Platte Flow Development
are calculated as follows:
(regional new municipal water use x
% of South Platte flow development in each region's water supply mix x
South Platte storage diversion pattern for that month x -1.0)
plus
(regional new municipal water use x
% of South Platte flow development in each region's water supply mix x
South Platte storage use pattern for that month x
monthly municipal return flow factor for that month)
Additional development of native South Platte flows will occur primarily via storage because
virtually all of the unappropriated water occurs during the runoff months of April through July
The accretive/depletive effect of native South Platte flow development therefore involves two
aspects: diversions into storage and releases from storage to municipal use. The first part of
the equation captures the depletive effect of storage while the second part of the equation
captures the accretive effect of actual municipal use of previously stored water.
5.2.7 Total Accretion/Depletion
For each region, the total accretions/depletions for each month are simply the sum of the six
source-specific accretions/depletions for that month.
6 Cumulative
The Cumulative sheet simply depicts the sum of the accretions/depletions associated with the
three regions. .
