Feasibility Evaluation of the Arkansas Valley Pipeline <br />Waterworks! Committee <br />June 2003 <br />updated in 2000 (GEI Consultants, Inc., 2000). Additionally, an update of the estimated <br />construction costs presented in the original report (Black & Veatch, 1972) was prepared by <br />GEI in 1998. <br />1.3 Service Areas and Project Participants <br />Generally, all drinking water systems in the Lower Arkansas River Basin, from St. Charles <br />Mesa in eastern Pueblo County to Lamar in Prowers County, are concerned with the poor <br />water quality in this region. Many of the water providers do not satisfy, or only marginally <br />satisfy, current drinking water standards. The water providers who financially contributed to <br />this study are: <br />Beehive Water Association Bent County <br />Catlin Canal Town of Cheraw <br />Crowley County Town of Crowley <br />Hilltop Water Company City of LaJunta <br />City of Manzanola May Valley Water Assn. <br />Newdale-Grand Valley Water Co. Town of Wiley <br />Additional water providers did not participate financially, but did follow the progress of this <br />study and participated in the public meetings. <br />1.4 Authorization <br />Authorization for this project is provided in an agreement between the Southeastern Colorado <br />Water Activity Enterprise and GEI Consultants, Inc., dated August 8, 2001. <br />1.5 Acknowledgements <br />We acknowledge the assistance of all who contributed to this study. <br />The Water Works!
