Lininger Ditch diverts water from Beaver Creek and conveys water in a southwesterly direction
about 2 miles to Lininger Lake. Diversions are measured using a 2-foot parshall flume. The
Lake is in a natural depression that has been increased in size by a small dam. The surface
area of the Lake is approximately 50 acres with an estimated depth of about 14 feet. Until
recently, water was diverted when physically available in Beaver Creek, and lake levels were
maintained about 1 foot above the outlet overflow structures. Regulation of lake water levels is
done by installing/removing flash boards in the two overflow structures. These structures are 10
and 15 inch diameter pipes located at the dam and at the emergency spillway, respectively. In
recent years the water commissioner and dam safety engineer have begun strict administration
of diversions and restricting the maximum level of storage to about 3 inches above the overflow
structures. The service area is the lots and homes in the subdivision. Maps of the Lininger Lake
subdivision, Lininger Ditch, and Lininger Lake are located in Appendix B. A photo of the lake is
shown in Figure 2.
 Y ` , = .'; 5 } . ,,
` . • i l y f ,y k 'X .
3
" _ ti'.. I Ai`.u. J ..3 LF'
. . - ' . . . . _ . :.
!F'' , I ^ • K ' r. ./iD' ` 1r. t ' 4
   t _ a *
 t •. ' .ri . j ' ' ' '
A .'
 . - , v`
. « ; ' SYA e "'; r..
' Z- .. 5 r r ,.

" s...: i ' r-i !r
 4 y.
-. _ r - " - _ ' -
. ~ r _ i •= l ,_ 1
" 4 ' 1 1- ; • .
..
 . :. The
ditch is used to fill Lininger Lake which has a storage decree for 672.6 acre-feet with an
appropriation date of February 28, 1927 and is decreed for domestic and fish culture purposes.
Lininger Lake also has a refill right for 672.6 acre-feet with an appropriation date of
December 31, 1929. The decreed source of water for the Ditch and Lake water rights is Beaver
Brook (aka Beaver Creek), a tributary of Hall Creek, which is a tributary of the North Fork of the
South Platte River.
Readily available diversion records from the State Engineers Office are summarized in Table 1
of Appendix C. These represent historical diversions to Lininger Lake prior to strict
administration of the water rights. Excess diversions flowed through the lake and spilled back to
Kenosha Trout Club Page 3 of 9
Feasibility Study - Augmentation Water Purchase 1038KTCO2
March 2001
