Long Hollow Reservoir
Feasibility Study
3.0 DESIGN DATA
3.1 Topography and Feasibility Level Study Drawings
Pacific Western Technologies, Ltd. (PWT) of Albuquerque, New Mexico prepared the
topography for this study. PWT, under contract with the LPWCD, obtained aerial photographs
on February 23, 2002 and generated color digital orthophotos and a digital terrain model for the
LHR site. Color stereo photographs, together with ground survey control points, were used to
generate a topographic map of the site with 2-foot contour intervals.
PWT prepared electronic and Mylar copies of LHR topographic mapping, as well as color digital
orthophotos. This base mapping was used for various LHR feasibility study tasks, such as the
geologic reconnaissance study, the wetlands delineation, the cultural resources evaluation, and
the design.
WWE added 20-foot-contour topography from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in
the vicinity of the reservoir. The USGS' topography was taken from the Red Mesa, Colorado
quadrangle.
Feasibility level drawings developed for this study are presented in Exhibits 3.1-1 through 3.1-5
at the end of this report in 11 "-x-17" format. A compact disk containing the drawings is
provided in Appendix F of Volume II. The drawings, which will be referred to throughout this
report, were developed by combining what appears to be the most advantageous alternative for
the dam and appurtenant structures based on available data. In some cases, the ~most
advantageous alternative is not yet apparent because of the lack of data andlor the need for
detailed analyses that will be done during design. In the cases where the most advantageous
alternative was not apparent, we included an alternative, with an associated cost, which will be
adequate to cover the final construction costs.
991-077.120 Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
