Creek and its tributaries. Although Otero County officials have expressed interest in having the
Corps of Engineers re-examine the conclusions of a prior study for La Junta, they have not
expressed interest in pursuing a new study effort. In the 1986 Phase I General I7esign
Memorandum, the Corps of Engineers developed economically feasible flood damage reduction
alternatives for La Junta; however, they were not imple.mented due to the lack of local
sponsorship.
