The Ditch Company's Main Diversion on the South Platte River Near Sterling, CO
Prolect Description
The Low Line Ditch Company maintains and operates the Low Line Ditch, delivering
irrigation water to a 2,070-acre service area. This project involved the construction of 4
augmentation ponds and drilling one augmentation well to generate augmentation credits to cover
1,200 acre-feet of depletions for 13 irrigation wells used by stockholders of the Company. These
13 wells were formerly augrnented under the Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte
(GASP), which has recently been dissolved, therefore no longer providing augmentation credits.
Additionally, this proj ect involved rehabilitating their main diversion structure on the South Platte,
to include: new gates, walk platform, and concrete diversion walls.
