Primary items we are proposing for the new rate structure:
Reduce the base rate fee and eliminate the water included with the base rate.
Either athree-tiered orfour-tiered structure based on normal water use for
Firestone residence.
Larger increases between tiers to send appropriate price signals to water
wasters.
Separate rate structure for non-residential customers.
Separate rate structure for irrigation-only customers.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE
Present rate alternatives to Town Board, Oct 2.
Draft report to staff, Oct 22.
Staff comments, Oct 28.
Draft report to Board, Oct 30.
Board comments, Nov 5.
Public Open House, Nov 6.
30-day public review period, Nov 7-Dec 6.
Incorporate public comments, if any, into final report.
Board adoption, Dec 11.
Implementation, 2009
As shown, the Town will host an Open House for the public to attend and provide
comments on the rate structure. Notice of the Open House will be provided in the
October water bill, posted at Town Hall and on the Town's website. We will collect all
comments and the Board will address them as warranted.
The Town will provide a 30-day public comment period during which a copy of the draft
plan will be kept at Town Hall and posted on the Town website. Notice of this 30-day
review period will be posted in the Town paper and October water bill. Once the 30-day
review period is completed, we will address public comments as directed by the Board
and staff and request Board adoption at the December 11, 2008 meeting.
8010 S.
