Water Project Construction Program - Project Data
Non-Reimbursable Investment
Grantee: County:
Colorado Water Conservation Board Statewide
Project Name:
Colorado Watershed Restoration Program
Project Type
: Watershed Protection and Flood Mitigation
Drainage Basin: Water Source
All River Basins in Colorado : N/A
Total Project Cost Funding Source
: up to 50% cost share : CWCB Const. Fund
Type of Grantee
: State Government
CWCB Non-Reimbursable Inv.:
$250,000
SUMMARY
The Program objective is to provide funding for wate rshed restoration studies and projects. Special
consideration is given to projects that reduce flood hazar ds, protect infrastructure, and increase benefits for
water supply. Past projects successfully completed w ith aid from the Construction Fund include the Roaring
Fork multi-objective planning study, Rio Grande headwaters restoration, Alamosa River watershed restoration,
and Fountain Creek watershed study. Potential future projects include Lake Fork Gunnison River restoration,
Uncompahgre Watershed strategic planning, Eagle River restoration, and Upper Arkansas/South Platte River
sedimentation mitigation. Studies and projects resulting from this program can have far reaching benefits for
water supply (e.g. SWSI), flood protect ion, enhancement of aesthetic and e nvironmental quality, recreation, and
increased economic benefit. The CWCB has not had access to a regular and reliable so urce of funding for this
Program in past years. Instead, special allocations on an annual basis from Severance Tax and Construction
Fund investments have provided support for the Program. The Program is intended for statewide benefit as
shown in the map below.
