Questions:
Bert Weaver: To what extent will this info be applicable state-
wide; any chance for applying for any state-wide money.
Ralf Anv of these would be available to anv end-user.
Bill Jerke: What are demarcation lines for upper and lower and
what would be considered tributaiv?
John: 176 is more or less the line,
Bill: Tributarv further north?
Mike: Roughly 4 miles south of the River.
Patron question: after recharge of the aquifer, any concept of
recovery? Is this part of the study? Any containment system
..slurrv iyalls?
Ralf: Implementation of the project is not part of the study but
we will have an idea of well use for extraction. Only looking at
capacity of recharge. Not looking at any mechanism to achieve
this.
Webb Jones: What is the water rights aspect of a potential water
storage project?
Ralf Water rights issue is not clear. Designated basin allows
much more structure. One avenue is through a replacement plan.
But correct that if we raise the water level, will increase well
yield. But this is next phase. At this point, we do not know
enough about the project.
Bob Streeter: If this project is funded and successftil, what steps
would have to be taken, trying to figure out how this project
would fit into the actualized project.
Ralf. Will depend on identifying possible infrastructure. Bigger
picture: report was submitted to DNR that came out of a
groundwater conference in 2007. Laying the framework now.
Cherokee Metropolitan Basin and Black Squirrel is in the
process of a project right now. Too early to know what Lost
Creek would look like.
Jim Yahn: Is there anv danger of gathering this info and then it
being used against you that this is tributary to the South Platte?
Ralf: Yes, this could happen. End users could use the info to any
manner they want. This seems that per statute this is
nontributarV.
Jim Yahn: Has this gone in front of Metro?
Ralf. Tomorrow.
Mike Shimmin: Study period historically?
Ralf. In Upper Black Squirrel went back to 1969, it will depend
on what the water data is.
Mike Shimmin: 10 years ago, a client in upper base, they were
water logging. Important that you look at a long enough period
so that you see variations.
Ralf. Hope is that we refine results of SB 193 to see how accurate
then were in their assessment.
Jim Yahn: Request for basin account money in amount of
$80,000.
Bill Jerke: Move to approve the $80,000 but that the money is
allocated to study the Upper Lost Creek Basin because this is far
13
