For example,,,.=-a. <br />utility could not demand a higher power quality of a QF ~h;an it <br />maintains itself, or require safety devices that provide greater. <br />protection than normal, - ,. <br />Inspection-and maintenance <br />Utilities have. the right to inspect ali .aspects of a Q~? <br />-which are associated with its safety and maintenance.. In add~- <br />tion, utilities must be granted- access to €atilities that. the. <br />.utility owns but-which are located on the premises- of the QF. <br />Violation of safety standards by the QF are grounds for diseon- <br />nection by the utility,-with adequate notice. <br />Management of system emerc~e_ncies <br />Utilities have the right to manage system emergencies, <br />including the disconnection of QFs. If possible, notice must be <br />given to the QF. Discontinuance .must be done. in a way that dogs <br />not discriminate against any single QF. <br />Cease purchases under special conditions <br />If the purchase of power from QFS causes utilities to incur <br />extraordinary -costs, they may cease purchases from QFs. Far <br />example, extraordinary costs might be incurred due to specia~~ <br />operational- circumstances requiring that utility gener.atit~n <br />equipment be shut down or started up, which imposes greater than <br />.normal fuel use.` Notification is required in -this circumstance., <br />5 <br />
