recovery of faun threatened or endangered species in tlae Central Platte Raver basin of
Nebrasl~a.
The Gove~-~~ors of wyon~ing, Colorado, and Nebrasl~a, along with representatives of tl~e
Secretary of the h~te~-ior, signed a Cooperative Agreement in July 1997 to develola a
Program for recovery of enda~.~gered species in tl~e central Platter River and co~aaplete th.e
necessary National Enviro~unental Policy Act analysis. Tluougl~ yeaz-s of ~.~egotiations,
de~relopment of the Platte River Recovery hnplementation Program was completed and
agreed upon in late ~OO6. T~.~e Program includes measures to la.elp tl~e recovery of fo~~r
endangered or tl~.reatened species, and thereby enablilag existing and ne~~l wate~~ projects
in tl~e basin to continue operatio~as in compliazace with tl~e E~adangercd Species Act.
hnplementation of the first ~3-year increment began January 1, Z0~7. Tluougla the
agreement, tl~e si.g~aatoz-ies agreed that implementation of this Program would be through
a Gove~-~lance ConBnittee co~~sisti~ag of representatives of the sig~~atories and stakeholders
as described in floe Program Document. The Secretary of floe haterior recognizes the
n~ela~bers of the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program. Gove~-~~ance Con~n~ittee
for their yeas-s of working dxlzgently to develop this important species recovery program.

Neb~~asl~a, and ~wyon~ing; water users fYOZaa the Upper, Dower, and Cent~~al Platte,
