Executive Summary: <br />An update on the Fountain Creek Corridor Master Plan efforts will be <br />reviewed. Specifically, plans for two soon-to -be-started demonstration projects will be <br />presented: <br />1. The Colorado Springs demonstration project is being considered for a 40-acre site on <br />Fountain Creek at the south end of the City. This site will become a ‘Fountain Creek Eco-Fit <br />Education Park’ with interactive eco-pla y, outdoor music, art, and flood safety <br />demonstrations and will help the community become more aware of important watershed <br />information. Plans are to make this a co mmunity built park. Creek improvements will be <br />made as a part of this project. <br />2. The Pueblo County demonstration project is being considered for a 300+ acre site on <br />Fountain Creek in the Pueblo Springs property (b etween the old and new Pinon bridge sites). <br />This site will become a ‘Fountain Creek Environmental Stewardship Center’ with <br />educational and activities oppor tunities, wetlands development, creek improvements as a <br />demonstration for farmers, Arkansas Darter habitat development, creek experimentation <br />areas, and an environmental stewardship center. It will help local communities to become <br />educated on watershed issues. <br />Additionally, holistic concepts fo r stabilizing unstable sectio ns of Fountain Creek, improving <br />habit, attenuating floods, and improving water quality will be presented. <br />2 <br />
