CWCB looking for mechanism to earmark severance taxes to allocate
more to water projects. Severance taxes created the SB179 process. They have the Phase
II draft report. Open to comment.
11. Willow Creek Reclamation Committee Celebration - Carishma Gokhale-Welch. Willow
Creek is celebrating all they've accomplished on September 12 at the Community Center in
Creede. Carishma urges everyone to come for a good time. She reported they have
completed most of their goals above the town of Creede and will now be focusing below the
town. Requested a 319 grant around 400K and will also ask for State and Basin funds.
RC&D will be the basin umbrella. Carishma requested those interested in attending the
celebration RSVP to willowcreekrc(amy.amigo.net or 719-658-0178. Mike G.: We're going
to ask you at some point to give us an update.
12. Other business - Discussion of hydropower. Mike G.: Possibility of Roundtable
sponsoring some Basin studies? There are funds available for feasibility studies through
Colorado Water and Power Authority. The whole climate has changed. The Governor now
has an office devoted to exploring alternative energy. Maybe now we can look at these
ideas. Not the same as fifteen years ago.
September meeting?
