Even with the lack of federal funding, there is an enornlous pent up demand for funds to
assist local control activities in Colorado and the Board's new program is eagerly anticipated. Many local
groups are prepared to make up for the federal funds shortfall.
The Board considered an outline of draft criteria and a proposed schedule at the July 2008 meeting. The
Board indicated that it wanted to review and make final grant awards, following an application and
evaluation process to be conducted by staff with the assistance of several outside organizations. Proposed
draft criteria and a revised schedule are being presented at this meeting and if the Board concurs the initial
round of grant applications will be solicited during October, with Board review and selection of
successful projects occurring at the November 2008 meeting.
I3ecomrneaadatioal:
•
Staff recommends that the Board give approval to the attached 'Tamarisk Conh~ol Cost-Sharing Grant
Program criteria and procedures, as discussed today and modified by Board comments.
Water Supply Protection • Watershed Protection 3c Flood Mitigation • Stream & Lake Protection ^ Water Supply Planning .$ I~'inance
Water Conservation & Drought Planning • Itttrastate Water Management & Development
