East Larimer County Water District
Landscape Demonstration Garden
95% Completion Report
August 27th, 2008
Grant Recipient: East Larimer County Water District
232 S. Link Ln
Fort Collins CO 80524
Contact: Melissa Tremelling, Senior Billing Specialist
(970) 493-2044
melissatna,elcowater. orb
e
As described in the Application for Water Efficiency Grant, East Larimer
County (ELCO) Water District is installing a Landscape Demonstration
Garden to increase awareness of water conservation and thereby provide
water savings. This will assist the District in meeting its targeted water
savings goal of 5% as stated in ELCO's Colorado Water Conservation
Board (CWCB)-approved Water Conservation Plan.
This 95% Completion Report document is in partial fulfillment of CWCB's
Water Efficiency Grant Program requirements. A summary of the
project status and obstacles are described.
Project Status
The installation of the garden has been completed. This is Step 4 of the
project tasks provided in the Application for Water Efficiency Grant. This
task involved installing all plants, sod, mulch and decorative rock. This
step also included installation of the rain sensor, irrigation clock, and
individual meters used to monitor the individual zones.
Obstacles
The day the plants were installed, Northern Colorado experienced some
wild weather and the garden was hit with hard rain and hail. Some of
the plants got partially damaged, but ELCO's contractor feels they will
blossom just fine next year. This will delay the open house of the garden
until late spring 2009.
