• The project is anticipated to have minimal to na additional impacts on the watershed as <br />designed following Watershed Conservation and Design Practices X2006}. Flood plains <br />and wetlands concerns will be minimized or~ negated by avoidance.. <br />• No actions will occur in Congr~essionally~designated Wilderness, wilderness study areas, <br />National Recreation Areas, or Research- Natural Areas. <br />• There are no inventoried r~oadless areas within the project area. <br />• Az~cheologists have reviewed the affected area for American Indian religious or cultural <br />sites, archeological sites, and historical pr~oper~ies or areas. No impacts to significant <br />heritage values will occur from the proposed action. <br />Public Involvement <br />The proposal was internally scoped by Brian Lloyd, Acting District Ranger, Don Dressler, Snow <br />Ranger, Joe Foreman, Winter Sports Administrator, Liz Roberts, Wildlife Biologist, Vern <br />Phinney, Wildlife Biologist, and Justin Anderson, Hydrologist. <br />The proposal was provided to the public and other agencies for comment during a public input <br />period from May 11~~, 2007 to June $~~, 2007. A total of 24 individuals were contacted resulting <br />in ~ letter of support,l letter seeking to ensure compliance with Section 404 of the Clean Water <br />Act, and 1 phone call seeking additional information, on the project. In addition, the Vail Daily <br />published an article on May 22, 2007 describing the project and the opportunity to comment. <br />The mitigation measures were developed through a collaborative process with the U.S. Army <br />Carp of Engineers, Hydrosphere, Inc, and U.S. Forest Service specialists. <br />Findings Required by Qther Laws <br />This decision is consistent with the white River National Forest Land and Resource <br />Management Plan ~20o2} as req~~ir~ed by the National Forest Management Act, The project was <br />designed in conformance with forest plan standards and incorporates appropriate Forest Plan <br />guidelines far the protection of Forest and recreation resources ~For~est Plan, pp ZW ~ to 2W42}. <br />The project is also in conformance with Forest Plan management area standards and guidelines <br />for Management Area 8,25 -~ Ski Areas -Existing and Potential Forest Plan, pp. 3-SO to 3-53}. <br />This proposed action complies with other laws and regulations applicable to actions undertaken <br />on the National Forests, including but not limited to: the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, <br />National Historic Preservation Act, Executive ar~der 12898 Environmental Justice, and the <br />Endangered Species Act, <br />implementation Date <br />This project may be implemented on ar after July 1, 2008. <br />Administrative Review or Appeal Opportunities <br />This decision is not subject to administrative appeal as per 36 CFR 215.12. <br />3 <br />
