• Cover beaches and shorelines. Shells are very sharp and have a very strong odor. In Kansas, <br />they were found under rocks in EI Dorado Lake in 2003 - by 2006 rocks were completely covered. <br />• Impacts to fish population. Mussels eat nutrients that normally feed fish populations. In Lake <br />Ontario, Lake Trout population decreased by 90% in 10 years. <br />Colorado State Parks statewide response includes: <br />1. education <br />2. prevention <br />3. monitoring <br />4. containment <br />WSRA Statewide Grant Request is for $1,000,000. This money would be used for the period of April 1 - <br />June 30, 2008, for temporary staff, operation capital costs, and research and education for other parks. <br />The question before the RT is can we give our consensus to let this grant request go through to the <br />CWCB next week? The IBCC has waived their normal guidelines to facilitate this request. <br />The original request was $4,000,000. We asked them to scale back to $1,000,000. Tom Ready, State <br />Parks, says they are discussing raising boat licensing fees from $35/boat to $100/boat as one method to <br />address the problem long term. <br />After discussion, the grant application moved forward by consensus of the Roundtable <br />6.
