<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Feasibility Study <br />for <br />Rist-Benson Reservoir Dam Repair <br /> <br />PROJECT SPONSOR <br /> <br />The Louden Irrigating Canal and Reservoir Company, Inc (LICRC) is a stockholder owned <br />Mutual Ditch Corporation and has been non-profit for many years but do to outside income from <br />lake leases, water rents, pump users and other fees LICRC is not filing as non-profit now. Articles of <br />Incorporation and Bylaws are included in Appendix A. <br /> <br />The Louden Irrigating Canal Company was incorporated January 22, 1878 on January 28th, 1878 the <br />Certificate of Incorporation was filed with William M. Clark, Secretary of State. The water for the <br />LICRC was taken out of the river just below the Weldon section 12, township 5 North, Range 70 <br />West or south of the present Thompson School through an old ditch known as the Sullivan Ditch <br />which had a 40 cubic foot per second water right dated October I, 1871, this ditch went North East <br />as far as the Devil' s Back Bone and went in a north easterly direction to a point on the watershed <br />between the Big Thompson and Cache La Poudre rivers intersecting the west line of section 32, <br />Township 6 North, Range 68 West in Larimer County. The water conducted by ditch is intended to <br />be applied to milling, manufacturing, irrigating ofland and for domestic purposes. <br /> <br />The Louden Irrigating Canal Company and Reservoir Company has 600 shares with a par value of <br />$50.00 belonging to about 180 stockholders. The stock holders of the LICRC include private <br />individuals and the Cities of Loveland, Fort Collins, Windsor, and Greeley. A list of the stock <br />holders is attached in Appendix B. <br /> <br />The company's facilities consist of Rist-Benson Reservoir (capacity 491.4 acre-feet), Donath <br />Reservoir (capacity 1148 acre-feet), 16 rights in Lake Loveland (approximately 640 acre-ft at 40 <br />acre-ft per right), and approximately 34 miles of unlined ditch and associated structures. <br /> <br />PROJECT LOCATION <br /> <br />Rist-Benson Reservoir is located at the Northeast comer ofthe intersection of Kennedy Avenue and <br />U.S. 34 in Loveland, Colorado. The specific location is Sections 9 and 10, Township 5 North, Range <br />68 West. Figure 1 shows the project location. <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />The Rist-Benson Reservoir Dam and associated structures were constructed in the early 1900's. The <br />dam is approximately 1,450 feet in length, has approximately 2 to 1 upstream and downstream slopes <br />with a crest width of 16 feet and a maximum structural height of approximately 20 feet.
