LARIMER AND WELD IRRIGATION COMPANY
CHECK STRUCTURE REHABILITATION

Project Description

The Larimer and Weld Irrigation Company operates a 40-mile system of supply ditch,
including control structures, checks, and headgates. This project was to rehabilitate lO existing
check structures, construct one new check structure on the Larimer and Weld Ditch, and to
refinance the cost of 3 check structures constructed in 2002 along the ditch. The new check
structures consisted of Obermeyer pneumatically operated gates to automatically check and control
the ditch. The gates are opened and closed by a l2-volt DC power air pump, which inflates a
durable rubber bladder on the downstream side of the gate to raise and lower the gate. The project
commence construction in the fall of 2003 and was completed in the summer of 2004 by Kiefer
Concrete, Inc., and Barker Construction, Inc., both from Fort Collins, Colorado.

Proiect Data

Sponsor: Larimer & Weld Irrigation Co.
