Part B. 1. Purpose of the Project
To provide an entity, to broker leases of water rights, from the Arkansas River, to entities
which need water.
After the lease with Aurora ended, it became apparent to the shareholders of the High
Line Canal that leases are an extremely valuable tool. Since many of the shareholders of
the High Line Canal Co are also shareholders of other canal companies in the area that an
entity which could lease their other water was needed. It is our belief that the entity must
have its own water to lease in order to make certain that the lessee is confident in what
they will be able to lease.
With the increasing age of our shareholders and the increased pressures for sales of water
rights, many of our shareholders would rather lease than sell. In the current state of
agriculture, there is a need for some secure income source provided by a lease.
