That stud} included <br />estir~ates of unmet water demands in the South Platte Basin vuill be e~rer 4~~,~~~ aerey <br />feet through ~~, with over ~,00~ acre-feet of "gaps' between projected r~unioipal and <br />industrial ~vater demands and a~railable water supplies remaining after identified projeots <br />and processes are irr~plemented. SISI estirr~ated that by ~~ appreimately 4~,~g~ <br />F of this gap was in the south 11lletro Ben~rer area, vuhich has been one of the fastest <br />growing regions in the state and nation far aver a decade, This ~4,g~~ F gap was <br />bawd ors assumption that e~istin levels of ~reundwater purnpir~g could cantinas <br />indefinitely rota the future. liven this baokgraund, it is appropriate and opportune far a <br />study to be undertaken to more accurately e~raluate the lil~ely irnpaot of continued <br />reliance an the non-renewable ground rater supplies in the seuth Metro Benver area <br />and to e~piore more coordinated regianal,management of this lOreciaus resa~rce. <br />At the March 12, 2008 Metro BRT meeting, the membership noted to recommend <br />funding for the South Metro Water Supply Authority Regional Aquifer Supply <br />Assessment. The BRT recommended that $100,540 of the project cost be allocated <br />from the Metro Basin Water Supply Reserve Account. The By-Laws of Metro BRT <br />require a simple majority vote of those Members present for any action to be taken by <br />the Roundtable. There was a quorum present at the March meeting and the rote was <br />unanimous in favor of the funding request for the South Metro Water Supply Authority <br />Regionaf Water Supply Assessmer~t. <br />The application and supporting materials for this project will be larovided directly to you <br />b Seuth Ietra water Supply authority.
