Provide a brief description of your organization below: see "Description of Applicant" in Part 2 of Criteria and <br />Guidance for required information. <br />The Town of Walden is located in the North Platte River Basin and is the major city in the basin and is also the <br />County Seat for Jackson County. The Town has a summer population of 1100 and serves water to 446 metered taps <br />and 9 unmetered taps. The average daily water demand in 2005 was 160,000 gallons. The Town's peak water <br />demand was 550,000 gallons per day in 2005 and is projected to be 660,000 gallons per day in 2025. The Town <br />diverts water from the Michigan River under the Hi Ho Ditch water right that was changed from agricultural to <br />municipal use and from two shallow wells decreed for municipal use. The water is treated before distribution in a <br />recently improved water treatment plant north of Town adjacent to the Michigan River. <br />The Town is requesting funds to improve its ability to physically divert its senior Hi Ho Ditch water right from a new <br />collection gallery (infiltration system) adjacent to the river, rehabilitate its existing diversion dam and diversion <br />system, obtain a water court decree giving the two wells the right to pump as alternate points of diversion to the senior <br />Hi Ho Ditch, and to change the use of its Walden Reservoir shares to municipal and augmentation uses, include this <br />water in a plan for augmentation. <br />2 <br />
