StateMod GUI Documentation
4.8 Data...Output Control
The Data...Output Control menu displays a dialog that controls how much output StateMod will
produce.

Add a Rood (Append) I Delete Selected Rows)
IearTemplate Load Template
f~ 1'ou enter identifier manually (faster)
f~ generate ID list for you (slower
all {itemized list ignored)
Station type ~ ID ~ Sxaitch
I1 ~ diversion) 200505{ALAMOSA DITCH}I Onl
diversion 200528{BAUHR D}
close Help Save Template
Output Control Data Window
The output control interface edits the StateMod output control file using a display similar to the graphing
tool, which is described in Section 6.0, View Menu. The purpose of the output control file is to limit the
StateMod output to a few structures. This reduces model execution time but also limits the output that
can be viewed after a run. The output control file name is usually left constant in the response file. Also,
the StateMod model, when run in data check mode, will automatically create a template output control
file with extension .xou. If the response file also uses this name, then you may lose your custom template
when StateMod runs in check mode. More information about file naming conventions for the output
control file is provided at the bottom of this section.
The output control window creates a list of structures and stations that will have output generated when
the model runs. You have the option of selecting structures and stations either by manually entering the
identifiers or relying on the interface to generate the identifiers. The latter method prevents errors but can
be slower. An output control file also allows all structures to be output. Selecting the Use all checkbox
turns on this feature and the structures in the list are ignored (but will be included in the output control
file for subsequent manipulation).
The Station type and Switch columns provide available. If the StateMod GUI is providing the list of
identifiers, they are alphabetized and are based on the Station type that is selected. When finished
editing the contents of an output control file, select Save Template. A file selector is displayed with a
default file extension of . tpo (although the file extension . out is also often used). To be recognized by
StateMod, this file name should match the output control file in the response file. If necessary, rename
the template file outside the StateMod GUI or read a template and then re-save using a different name.
StateMod GUI - 22
