i
~ ~~ ~ ~/
^ StateMod and StateMod GUI
^ StateCU and StateCU GUI
^ StateWB
Major features that will be included in the download files include:
^ :Downloads will properly detect and update to newer versions of software (it will
not be possible to install an old version without deleting the newer version).
^ Software that is installed can be uninstalled.
^ The installation procedure will define standard CDSS menus.
^ The installation procedure will be simple to define, maintain, and execute.
^ Whenever possible, the installation procedure will bc; the same for all CDSS
software.
^ Documentation installation will be included as a defs~ult or as an option.
^ The look and feel of downloads will be similar to others familiar to CDSS users
(e.g. Microsoft and ESRI products).
Java software depends on the Java Runtime Environment (Jli2E). The download for this
software is relatively large; therefore, it is envisioned that the JRE install will be a
separate download and that users will install the software in a standard location. The
following activities are included in this task:
151.1 Define standard install requirements. In order to ~aromote consistency and
avoid ambiguity in the requirements for different software developers, a
memorandum will be prepared describing the requirements for CDSS software
install programs. For example, this memorandum wall describe the default
directory locations for software installation, menu defaults, requirements for
uninstall, etc. The requirements maybe modified aflter reviewing available install
packaging programs, in order to simplify the process.
151.2 Evaluate and select an install program software tool. Previously, the
[nstallShield software was used to prepare install programs for most CDSS
software. This software is very full-featured but requires training and
maintenance. A simpler program, such as InstallShi~;ld Express, or install
programs specific to Java, Visual Basic, etc., will be reviewed and one or more
recommended products will be recommended in a memorandum to the State.. The
requirements identified in Task 151.1 will be used to~ make the recommendations.
151.3 Create software install packages. After approval ~~f a software tool, RTi will
build software installs for StateView/CWRAT; TSTooI; StateDMI; StateMod and
the StateMod GUI; StateCU and the StateCU GUI; and StateWB. A
memorandum will be prepared describing the procedures for building the
installation programs, including location of the included files, and procedure for
delivery to users. These procedures should then be followed by all contractors
14
