A certain amount goes to each roundtable and a certain amount
is kept on reserve in the statewide account. The criteria for grants is specific.
~ Carlyle Currier - Interbasin Compact Committee
Nothing has ever happened like this in this state before.
There are varying interests with individual agendas -this process has forced us to work
together to come up with solutions.
A couple of things we need to define:
1) Know where we're at now
How much water is left in the Colorado River?
The legislature is appropriating money on an extensive study to find out how much
water there is. It will be one of the most extensive studies ever done.
How much water can we develop at what risk? We should get a range of numbers
out of the study.
2) Develop a real vision where we want the State to go.
Have to talk about growth, energy, etc.
Has asked the Roundtables to see how Colorado water will look in 50 years.
Maintenance of irrigation for agriculture is still important.
Maintenance of recreational facilities is important to a lot of people.
Drinking water is important.
It makes everyone work together.
Josh Penry -what types of projects are being funded by the Roundtables?
