approximately 4 percent. A comparison against hi storic data for Ridgway Reservoir and Paonia
Reservoir is somewhat limited because historical data are only available since the mid-1980s.
The GUNMOD simulation, on average, oversimulates the end-of-month contents in Blue Mesa
Reservoir by approximately 43 percent, and the simulation at Taylor Park is overestimated by
approximately 4 percent. In general, the simulated end-of-month storage at Blue Mesa and Taylor
Park produced by GUNMOD is very similar to that produced by MODSIM.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
The MODSIM prototype for the G unnison River basin was calibrated to ensure that the model is
accurately representing the actual administration of water rights and operation of key reservoirs. For
this effort, the historical "good neighbor" protocol was adopted. The results of the calibration are
evaluated on the basis of a tabular and visual comparison of modele d versus historic flow data.
Both the tabular output and the gr aphical plots indicate that the m odel will produce results that are
within normal model acceptance criteria when compared to actual historical measured data obtained
from the USGS and the Divi sion of Water Resources.
Both the tabular output and the gra phical plots indicate the model will pr oduce results that are at least as
accurate as those produced by GUNMOD Version 0.99.
12
A275 02.23.94 1.15-27 Fosha, Ritsch
