<br />Storage water from Silver Jack Reservoir is available only to meet unsatisfied demands of the <br />? <br />irrigation uses (87 percent). None of the storage releases are used by the City of Montrose (13 <br />percent). <br /> <br />From November 1 through May 31, a constant release of 17 cfs is made at Silver Jack <br />? <br />Reservoir. During the summer months (June 1 through October 31), a minimum streamflow of <br />25 cfs is maintained in the Cimarron River below the head gate of the Cimarron Canal. This is <br />consistent with the instream flow water right of the Colorado Water Conservation Board (Case <br />No. 84CW395). <br /> <br />Silver Jack Reservoir is operated to store water when the storage decree (Table 1) is in priority, <br />? <br />subject to the winter bypass of 17 cfs. The reservoir is operated between an inactive storage <br />capacity of 700 acre-feet and its full capacity of 13,520 acre-feet (Table 2). <br />For the non-project water rights in the Cimarron and Little Cimarron basins, the CRDSS model will use <br />agricultural demands based upon acreage values developed by the USBR/DWR rather than the values <br />developed for the Gunnison River Planning Model. Specifically, the Lower Cimarron Demand will be <br />based upon an irrigated acreage of 1,766 acres (96 cfs of aggregated water rights) and the Upper <br />Cimarron Demand will be based upon 1,232 acres (67 cfs of aggregated water rights). <br />3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />During the Phase IIa development of the MODSIM prototype, interviews were conducted with the <br />Division Engineer and the President of the Bostwick Park Water Conservancy District to gain an <br />understanding of the operations of the Cimarron Canal, Silver Jack Reservoir, and Bostwick Park <br />Project. Based on these discussions, the MODSIM model elements were designed to replicate actual <br />operations of these systems. Although most of the basic input data for this sub-basin were ported from <br />the GUNMOD model, some revisions were made in the MODSIM prototype. These revisions are <br />described below. <br />Irrigated Acreage Changes <br />The distribution of irrigated acreage for the various demand nodes in the Cimarron and Little Cimarron <br />basins was modified based on inspection of the GIS mapping provided by the USBR an d the State.
