3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
coreflow
This task memo describes the design of a DMI utility ( ) to compute ?natural flows? at USGS
stream gages which will be used as core stations in the CRDSS river ba sins. The procedure is similar in
theory to that utilized by the USBR for estimating natural flows for the CRSS model. Natural flows are
estimated by adjusting the historically recorded flows at the core gage stations to correct for all man-
made depletions occurring upstream of the gage. These depletions include irrigation consumptive use,
municipal and industrial consumptive use, and changes in reservoir storage and exports from the basin.
Import to the basin must also be reflected as a man-caused accretion to the basin. Because the pattern of
monthly depletions may not be the same as monthly consumptive use, this memo describes procedures to
estimate the timing of depletions both for agricultural irrigation and for municipal uses.
Implementation of this DMI utility will result in a time series of monthly natural flow values at the
selected CRDSS core gage stations. These data will then be used to derive natural inflows to the inflow
nodes for the MODSIM network.
9
A275 01.09.95 1.15-15 Hyre, Fosha
