This input file is used to estimate natural streamflow at the USGS gage name station ID number 9110000
and order number 1000. The output will be for the study period 1975 to 1990 with units of acre-feet per
month. There is one upstream sub-basin (basstaid1) in which unit consumptive use is available. No
adjustment is made to unit consumptive use. Irrigated acreage within the upstream basin is 200 acres.
Monthly depletion distribution coefficients for Option No. 2 will be used to relate annual consumptive
use to monthly streamflow depletion. There are three upstream ditch structures in which ditstaid1 diverts
water out of the basin (export); ditstaid2 diverts water into the basin (import); and ditstaid3 diverts water
for municipal uses. For the three ditch structures the adjustment factors are set to unity and consequently
there will be no changes for geographic variances. Default municipal return flow factors are used. There
is one upstream reservoir in which historic streamflow will be adjusted for change in storage. Input
information will be repeated for additional USGS gaging stations.
The USGS gaging stations for which natural streamflows will be estimated will be identified as a
minimum to supplementing the CRSS core stations. The ASCII text input control files will be created
Coreflow
after study of each basin. will estimate monthly natural streamflow at a specified USGS
gaging stations using historical data for (1) measured historic streamflow at the gage stations, (2)
upstream irrigation and municipal streamflow depletions, (3) upstream export and import diversions, and
(4) effects of upstream storage. Appendix B of this document provides a general flow chart of the DMI
coreflow coreflow, nodeflow
utility . Appendix C provides a general flow chart relating the use of , the
database, and the MODSIM interface. The following steps outline the procedure to estimate natural flow
at a specified USGS gage station:
From user-specified information, use the low-level DMIs to retrieve time series data for gaged
?
streamflow, diversions, unit consumptive use, and reservoir storage contents.

Determine the historical time series for total upstream monthly change in storage for the user-
?
specified reservoir structures:
R
?
STGSTG
STG = (1)
j,rj-1,r
j
r=1
where STG is the total change in storage contents (acre-feet per month) for the current month
j
j, STG is end-of-month storage contents (acre-feet) for reservoir r, and R is the total number of
j,r
upstream reservoirs. A positive change in storage indicates an increase in storage contents
during the month and a negative change indicates a decrease in storage contents. The sign
(positive or negative) of DSTG must be maintained for later calculations.
j
Determine the historical time series for total upstream export and import diversions and the
?
total upstream diversions that bypass the USGS gaging station:
x
WFACDIV *
EXDIV =
x j, x
j
x=1(2)
M
6
A275 01.09.95 1.15-15 Hyre, Fosha
