each structure. For each key water right representing a primary diversion structure, the decree amount
associated with the key right will be the decree amount associated with the primary diversion structure.
Utility Output
The water rights DMI utility ( ) will create a formatted ASCII output file called <basin>.rit.
watright
The <basin>.rit file will be in columnar format beginning with the name of the key right in column one,
the flow-weighted administration number in column two, the order number in column three, the total
capacity in column four, the efficiency in column five, the total irrigated acreage in column six, the
consumptive use ID in column seven, and the total decree amount in column eight. The <basin>.rit file
will be read by the water rights planning model interface and used to populate the model network with
demand points using the order number.
If more than one aggregated group of rights has the same flow-weighted administration number, the
group with the largest total decree amount will receive an administration number with a higher priority.
An example output file is shown below.
#This file describes the key water rights to be modeled in the
#FORGETMENOT basin. This file will be used by MODSIM to define the
#demand network within the basin. The water rights DMI utility ( ) defines the key water rights to be modeled in
watright watright
the basin. A key water right may be either an individual structure or an aggregated group of water rights.
The utility expects as input an ASCII text file (<basin>.ctl) containing the water rights to be modeled, the
wdids, administration numbers, decree amounts, estimated capacities of structures, names, and order
numbers. The utility will be run from the command line and will produce an ASCII text file
(<basin>.rit) listing the key water rights, the corresponding flow-weighted administration number, the
order number, the total capacity, the irrigation efficiency, the total irrigated acreage, the consumptive use
ID, and the total decree amount for each key right. Figure 1 shows a flow chart of the process to define
key water rights.
6
A275 01.09.95 1.15-13 Ritsch
