The water rights DMI utility ( ) will be run from the command line by specifying the basin
watright
name. The command line syntax is shown below:
watright basin
Utility Input
The water rights DMI utility ( ) requires the <basin>.ctl as input. This file will be created by
watright
the water rights modeling group with the aid of the data browser utilities defined in the General
Methodology section. The water rights information contained in the <basin>.ctl file will consist of the
wdids, administration numbers, names, capacities, irrigated acres, consumptive use time series IDs,
irrigation efficiencies, and decree amounts of all the water rights to be included in the water rights
planning model.
Variables and information are defined within the <basin>.ctl file using techniques. Techniques are key
words that pass information to the utility. Techniques available for the water rights DMI utility
( ) include:
watright
KEY - designates a primary or aggregated group of rights to be modeled
INPUT - designates water rights input (wdid, administration number, and decree amount)
GLOBAL - designates a global default
LOCAL - designates a local default
ORDER - designates a network order number
The water rights DMI utility ( ) will check the <basin>.ctl file for unique description fields. It
watright
is important that the descriptions be unique for each modeled key right.
Global and local values for variables are set within the <basin>.ctl file using the techniques and
GLOBAL
. Global defaults are contained at the top of the file, while local variables are set on the lines
LOCAL
immediately below the definition of each key water right. Global default values for variables will be
used in the calculations unless a local value is specified. Variables for which global and local defaults
can be specified include:
version( ) - version number for control file.
version
river basin ( ) - river basin containing water right. Note this ID is unique to each basin, and
basin
only one river basin may be specified per input file.
efficiency ( ) - irrigation efficiency.
eff
The <basin>.ctl file may contain comments. All comment lines must begin with the pound symbol ( );
#
all key water rights must begin by specifying the technique and a description. The lines
,
KEY
immediately following the key water right definition are the lines containing individual water rights that
are to be aggregated into the key right. Information regarding individual water rights must be specified
to include description, wdid, administration number, decree amount, capacity, and irrigated acreage.
This information is all specified through the technique All six pieces of information (name,
.
INPUT
wdid, administration number, decree amount, structure capacity, and irrigated acreage) must be specified
for each water right in the order given above.
4
A275 01.09.95 1.15-13 Ritsch
