Within the CRSMI, the menus, windows, dialogs, status bars, and buttons were designed using the XVT
Development Solution for C software (1994). The C source code was compiled using the Silicon
Graphics machine's C compiler, Version 5.2. Xmgr, a FreeWare package available on the Internet, was
used for graphing. Additionally, slightly over 25 C source modules were developed to provide necessary
translations between the 24MSM, the CRSMI graphical interface, and Xmgr.
Verification of the results of the USBR version of the 24MSM with the CRDSS version of the model was
conducted. Identical input data files were run on models in the SUN Workstation and CRDSS SGI
hardware. The generated output files were compared and found to be identical. Additional tests were
made of data files transferred between the two environments. Files from the USBR regional offices were
successfully transferred via the Internet. In all cases data files were read, and the model worked
correctly. Versions of the CRSMI and 24MSM were provided for testing by the State and other RTi
team members. A procedure for identifying bugs in the software was implemented and used to refine the
code.
On-line documentation was implemented for the CRSMI using Mosaic. The documentation describes
the use of all menu items and graphical displays. Hard-copy documentation was also developed.
Additionally, an example use of the software based upon 25 overheads from CRSMI screen dumps was
developed and provided to Lynn Johnson for use in the User Involvement task.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The conclusions and recommendations for this task are as follows:
The workstation version of the 24MSM was developed, tested, and implemented in the CRDSS
?
during Year 1.

An equivalent GUI (CRSMI) to the 24MSI was developed for the CRDSS. This GUI
?
reproduces the functionality and the "look and feel" of the 24MSI.

The CRSMI software was coordinated with Task 1.12 for possible use with the CRSM.
?

Data files for the CRDSS implementation of the 24MSM will not come from the CRDSS
?
database, but rather directly from the USBR via Internet.
4.0 REFERENCES
Fulp, T.J., Theobald, D.M., Williams, B., and Vickers, B.
