The general operating strategy of Denver Water for th e south-side system is as follows: The first
water rights used to meet the demand of water user s are direct flow water rights. Following use
of direct flow water rights, the next supply us ually comes from exchanges using reusable water
supplies. The remaining water demand, if any, is normally supplied with storage releases from
Strontia Springs, Marston, or Ralston Reservoirs.
Denver Water depends on the supply from the Blue River Collection System when direct flow
rights on the South Platte fall out of priority or are inadequate to meet the demand.
Where to find more information
Specifics relating to the data collection and f illing processes used in the determination of
the best source of data are presented in the SPDSS Task 4 Memorandum – Identify and
Fill/Resolve Conflicting R ecords for Key Transmountain Diversion Structures.
Additional information on ditch and reservoi r operations within Water District 80 is
presented in the Water District 80 Meeting No tes prepared for SPDSS Task 3 – Identify
Key Diversion Structures.
Additional information regarding the operating practices for Denver Water is presented in
the Denver Water Board North System Memo randum prepared for the SPDSS Task 5 –
Key Structures.
COMMENTS AND CONCERNS
None.
REFERENCES
1.
