SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Riverside Irrigation System (System) is comprised of two entities, the Riverside Reservoir
and Land Company (Company) and the Riverside Irrigation District (District). The System
includes storage water from both Riverside Reservoir and Vancil Reservoir, and direct flow
water via the Riverside Intake Canal, whereby System lands located downstream of Riverside
Reservoir. Water is conveyed to Riverside Reservoir for storage via the Riverside Intake Canal.
Water is then released from the reservoir via the Riverside Canal for irrigation. A regulating
reservoir, Vancil Reservoir, was constructed recently on the Riverside Canal to mitigate high
fluctuations inflow throughout the irrigating season. Riverside Canal conveys direct flow and
storage water from Riverside Reservoir to Vancil Reservoir, whereby Vancil Reservoir makes
releases to supplement irrigation in the lower portion of the Riverside system. The Company
also owns shares of storage water in Prewitt Reservoir and Jackson Lake, which it uses to satisfy
System deliveries to users outside of the System boundaries.
Key structures identified in the Riverside Irrigation System are as follows:
1) Riverside Intake Canal
2) Riverside Reservoir System
• Riverside Reservoir
• Vancil Reservoir
The components of the Riverside Irrigation System are as follows:
Riverside Irrigation Company
P.O.
