Measurement Device: Transmountain diversions through the Alva B. Adams Tunnel are
measured and recorded via a satellite recorder (Alva B. Adams Tunnel at East Portal near
Estes Park, 09013000, ADATUNCO, 1947-1996 and Adams Tunnel at East Portal,
ADANETCO, 1996-present). These records reflect the transmountain diversions for both
the C-BT Project and the Windy Gap Project.
HydroBase Data: The monthly data available in HydroBase over the 1960-2002 period of
record pertaining to the Adams Tunnel include the following:
Total Diversions
Complete record over 1967-2002 (see Figure 2).
1967 was the first year with all project features in place and operating.
Historic diversions related to the Adams Tunnel average approximately 229,000 ac-
ft/yr. This includes about 216,000 ac-ft/yr of C-BT deliveries over 1967 to 2002 and
13,000 ac-ft/yr of Windy Gap pumping since it came online in 1986.
Figure 2
Alva B.
