SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Lower Latham Ditch and Lower Latham Reservoir are owned by the Lower Latham Ditch
Company and Lower Latham Reservoir Company. These companies operate together under the
same board of directors to provide irrigation supplies to lands located south of the South Platte
River near Kersey and east of LaSalle in Weld County, Colorado. The Lower Latham Reservoir
is located 2.5 miles east of LaSalle. Water is conveyed to the reservoir for storage through the
Union Ditch under a contract agreement with the Union Ditch Company. Water is also conveyed
to the reservoir through the Morrison Seepage Ditch. Storage water is released from the reservoir
via the Lower Latham Outlet, which conveys water to the Lower Latham Ditch for irrigation.
The headgate for Lower Latham Ditch is on the east side of the South Platte River, between the
headgates of Godfrey Ditch and Patterson Ditch. The Lower Latham Ditch terminates near
Loloff Reservoir (unaffiliated), where the Lower Latham Extension Ditch begins and carries
water to the Empire Intake Canal. Lower Latham Extension Ditch is owned and operated by the
Lower Latham Extension Ditch Company.
Key structures identified in the Lower Latham Ditch and Reservoir System are as follows. Also
listed below are ditches and reservoirs which are outside of the Lower Latham Ditch and
Reservoir System, but are essential to system operation.
1) Union Ditch
2) Morrison Seep Ditch
3) Lower Latham Reservoir
4) Lower Latham Ditch System
• Lower Latham Ditch
• Lower Latham Outlet
5) Lower Latham Drain
The contact information for the Lower Latham Ditch Company is:
Jim Park, President
32730 Weld County Route 50
Kersey, CO 80644
970-352-2125
Union Ditch is owned by the Union Ditch Company:
Union Ditch Company
C/O Gary Alles
26285 WCR 47
Greeley, CO 80631
The general locations of the Lower Latham Ditch and Reservoir Company system and associated
structures are shown on Figure 1.
Lower Latham Ditch Memo.doc 2 of 12
