SYSTEM OVERVIEW
The Larimer and Weld Irrigation Company (the Larimer Weld Company) is comprised of a
consortium of affiliated irrigation and reservoir companies that operate various canals and
reservoirs predominantly in Larimer County and extending into Weld County. Affiliated
companies under the Larimer Weld Company include the following:
• Larimer and Weld Irrigation Company,
• Larimer and Weld Reservoir Company,
• Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company,
• Divide Reservoir and Canal Company, and
• Little Cache la Poudre Irrigation Company.
The Larimer Weld Company provides direct flow water, storage water, and transmountain water
to irrigators located within its system and for the purpose of exchange. The Larimer Weld
Company System (the Larimer Weld System) lies predominately within Water District 3 of
Water Division 1 and extends east into Water District 1. With the exception of the high
mountain components of the Larimer Weld System, the Larimer Weld System begins
downstream of the confluence of the North Fork and mainstem of the Cache la Poudre River and
extends east to a point approximately 11 miles east of Eaton, Colorado.
Reservoirs throughout the Larimer Weld System are used for a variety of uses including storage,
exchange, and system regulation. Operation of the Larimer Weld System is coordinated in an
effort to optimize District resources. Additionally, operation of the Larimer Weld System
involves coordination with the other main irrigating companies in the Water District including
North Poudre Irrigation Company (NPIC), Water Supply and Storage Company (WSSC), and the
New Cache la Poudre Irrigating Company (New Cache Company).
Key structures identified in the Larimer Weld System are as follows:
1) Larimer and Weld High Mountain System
• Laramie Poudre Tunnel
• Wilson Supply Ditch
• Worster Reservoir
2) Poudre Valley Canal System
• Poudre Valley Canal
• Poudre Valley Canal Reservoir System
- Douglas Reservoir
- Little Windsor Reservoir (aka Windsor Reservoir No. 8)
- Annex No. 8
- Elder Reservoir
- Cobb Lake
3) Little Cache la Poudre System
• Cache la Poudre Ditch (aka Little Cache la Poudre Ditch)
• Larimer Weld Reservoir (aka Terry Lake)
Larimer&Weld Memo.doc
2 of 20
