HydroBase Data: Historical end-of--month storage records are available for Terry Lake in
HydroBase under Structure ID 0303805 for most of the 1950 through 2002 SPDSS study
period, as shown on Figure 4. Review of the historical end of month storage records
indicates that Terry Lake fills in most years. Since the early 1970s, Terry Lake has
typically not been drained. However, in drought years, such as 2002, Terry Lake was
drained.
4) Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal System
The Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal System includes the Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal (aka
Eaton Ditch) and Big Windsor Reservoir. The Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal System lies
between the WSSC System to the north and the New Cache Company System to the south. The
Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal System starts in Water District 3 and extends east into Water
District 1 to a point approximately 5 miles west of the town of Cornish.
Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal (Structure ID 0300919)
The Larimer Weld Irrigation Canal is locally referred to as Eaton Ditch. The headgate for the
canal is located on the north side of the Cache la Poudre River at the north side of the City of
Fort Collins. The earth lined canal travels in a general easterly direction through Larimer County
and continues into Weld County in Water District 1. The canal crosses Dry Creek, Boxelder
Creek, The Slough, Coalbank Creek, Town Lateral, Mead Lateral, Spring Creek, Lone Tree
Creek, Owl Creek, and Willow Creek as it delivers water through the Larimer Weld System.
Larimer&Weld Memo.doc
11 of 20
Figure 4: Terry Lake Storage Records
